October 12, 2005

The Regular Quarterly Meeting of the Board of Directors of the Potter-Tioga Library System was called to order by President Jeff Wilkinson at 7:00 p.m.

After introductions, the Minutes of the July 19, 2005 quarterly meeting were approved as presented.

Lynne Coolidge presented the Budget Committee’s proposed budget for 2006. Higher health insurance costs, modest raises and other adjustments increased this budget by 6% ($5714) over last year’s. Lynne also reported on some future expenditures the board should be prepared for including replacing the jeep, further health insurance increases and the 65 hour/week requirement for the headquarters library. Doris Mosch moved to approve the budget; Elery Walizer seconded the motion. The vote was unanimous for approval of the 2006 Budget.

The Board discussed the 2006 appropriation request to the Potter and Tioga County Commissioners. The consensus was to ask for a $5,000 increase and to try to meet with them.

System Librarian’s Report:
-Circulation statistics and the financial report for the 2nd quarter were distributed and reviewed.
-All library Financial Reviews and Audits have been received and filed
with the State Library. Funds held back until the receipt of Coudersport’s late audit were distributed.
- An LSTA grant application for automating five libraries was sent to the State in early September. The grant totals $54,802. The libraries involved are Galeton, Genesee, Knoxville, Oswayo Valley and Mansfield.
-Laurie reminded Board members of a free, overnight workshop in Williamsport, Nov. 15-16, entitled “Leading Libraries.”
-There was a brief discussion on the State’s announcement that waivers for meeting standards will not be given out as freely as in the past.

News from member libraries was shared. The meeting adjourned at 8:15 p.m.

The next meeting will be at the Green Free Library on Saturday, January 14, 2005, at 10:00 a.m.
